GEORGE TOWN: Gerakan yesterday slammed the DAP-led Pakatan Rakyat state government for failing to live up to its Competency, Accountability and Transparency (CAT) tagline after one year in power.

It also expressed disappointment over the state government’s failure to deliver on all the promises made following the March 8 general election.

Gerakan state chairman Datuk Dr Teng Hock Nan said people were in the dark on the extent of benefits they could derive from the various economic activities announced or implemented.

He said Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng had not given the people a clear picture whether the public could share in the benefits from the influx of the RM10.2 billion in investments.

“We want to know if the RM10.2 billion figure is actual investments or mere commitment on paper. The element of transparency is clearly absent on account of insufficient details.”

He was speaking after the launch of CAT Watch to present Gerakan’s evaluation on the performance of the state government on its first anniversary in office.

Dr Teng said other concerns raised were the status of the alleged land scam investigations as well as progress by the state government to apply for financial allocations from the Federal Government to preserve heritage structures and the retraining of skilled workers.

Dr Teng said he would forward a copy of the “report card” to Lim and his executive councillors for further action. A total of 17 concerns were raised in the report card.

The CAT Watch was formed as a platform to fast track the people’s grievances to the current administration.
