Those who fail to honour election pledge are not qualified to question others

Since now the DAP state government has allowed the village to be demolished in breach of their election pledge, and the residents are homeless. Karpal and other DAP's leaders are not qualified to question others for not keeping their words.

Bukit Glugor MP Karpal Singh has failed to honour DAP’s promise to residents of Kampung Buah Pala that DAP would not allow the village to be demolished if Pakatan Rakyat takes over the Penang state government, said Penang Gerakan secretary Ong Thean Lye.

“Since now the DAP state government has allowed the village to be demolished in breach of their election pledge, and the residents are homeless. Karpal and other DAP’s leaders are not qualified to question others for not keeping their words” said Ong, who is also the political secretary to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon.

Ong was responding to Karpal’s statement at the Dewan Rakyat yesterday that Dr Koh had not kept his words made before the 2008 General Elections that he (Dr Koh) preferred to be elected as an MP and not appointed a Senator.

Ong said that during general elections campaigns, the opposition had always used a common trick to tell the people not to vote for Barisan Nasional candidates because “these candidates could still be appointed ministers via senatorship.”

Ong said that Dr Koh had then made the said statement in response to queries from journalists whereas in Karpal’s case, he went to the village to make the promise.
