Penang Gerakan has chided Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng over his indecisiveness regarding his “about-turn” statement that the Pakatan Rakyat state executive council had discussed the Kampung Buah Pala issue but there was no necessity to declassify the minutes.
Penang Gerakan chief Datuk Dr Teng Hock Nan it was unbecoming of Lim to say one thing one day and another thing the following day.
“On Monday, Lim said there were no minutes as the Pakatan Rakyat state executive council did not discuss the Kampung Buah Pala issue but on Tuesday, he admitted there were minutes. This is misleading the people and twisting. Surely, Lim should have the facts with him or check with his officers before he gave the statement on Monday,” said Dr Teng.
Dr Teng, who is also Gerakan vice-president, said Lim was also trying to confuse the people when he kept on saying that there was no reason to declassify the Pakatan minutes when no approvals to the co-operative and developer were given by Pakatan.
Dr Teng said the public, especially residents of Kampung Buah Pala, were keen and had the right to know what was discussed by Pakatan leaders at the state executive council meetings, before the village was demolished. This is transparency.
He said the Kampung Buah Pala controversy showed that Lim with his CAT (competent, accountable and transparent) state government slogan was only interested in engaging in political propaganda and to put up a show.
“In fact, the CAT slogan should appropriately be changed to Complaining, Accusing and Twisting,” said Dr Teng, adding that he was also surprised that DAP chairman and Bukit Glugor MP Karpal Singh had been keeping “quiet” over the Kampung Buah Pala episode.
