Lim acting like a child throwing tantrums

Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng has been taken to task over his remarks that the Penang Government’s mediator role between the Kampung Buah Pala residents as well as the landowner and developer is as good as over because the residents have sought help from the Barisan Nasional.

Penang Gerakan Youth chief Oh Tong Keong said Lim was behaving like a child throwing tantrums, and “twisting” that his responsibility was over.

Oh said Kampung Buah Pala residents were disappointed with Lim and the state government for failing to help them and that’s why they approached the Barisan Nasional for help.

“At this important juncture, Lim should not shirk his responsibility and complain that the residents had asked the BN for help,” he said.

Thus, Oh said, Lim’s so-called CAT (competent, accountable and transparent) slogan should be changed to “complaining, accusing and twisting.”

Oh said when faced with problems, Lim was conveniently shirking away his responsibility instead of finding a solution to help the people.

He said Lim should remember that DAP leaders had promised the residents to protect the village from being demolished, during their campaigns in the general elections in 2008. “Until today, the promise had yet to be fulfilled.”

Oh said Lim had threatened to invoke Section 116 of the National Land Code and prevent the demolition of houses in Kampung Buah Pala.

Lim had also promised he would instruct the Penang Municipal Council to revoke the development order to the developer.

In his remarks, which were reported in the newspapers yesterday, Lim said as far as the state was concerned, the matter ended when some of the villagers sought help from Barisan Nasional.
