Called for a comprehensive and independent inquiry

Gerakan Youth Chief, Lim Si Pin today in a statement called for a comprehensive and independent inquiry into the death Teoh Beng Hock, aide to Y.B. Ean Yong Hian Wah, Selangor State Executive Councillor at the Selangor MACC Headquarters yesterday afternoon.

“My heart goes to the family of Beng Hock and we all mourn his premature passing. Gerakan would like to offer its deepest condolences to his family and friends,” Lim said.

Lim also added that it is incumbent for the government to hold an independent inquiry that is seen to be independent into the circumstances leading to Teo’s death. He said that the credibility of the MACC as some parties have already cast doubt on the role of the MACC. Lim also called on the MACC to ensure that adequate safety measures are in place to prevent such incidents whether self-inflicted or not.

“While I fully appreciate the emotional nature of the situation, we must withhold judgement and allow the law to take its course. If there is anything wrongdoing, then the culprits must be brought to book,” Lim added
