In congratulating Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Datuk Seri Jeanne Abdullah on being conferred the Tunship by the King, Gerakan National President Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said their contributions to the nation were being appreciated.

“During Pak Lah’s time, he had introduced several good policies. Although some of his policies were not fully implemented, it was still a good start.”

Describing Abdullah as the “father of democracy,” Dr Koh said he had laid a strong foundation for all Malaysians to work on.

He said when Abdullah became the Prime Minister, he had encouraged the people to tell him the truth and give him the correct feedback.

“He had also pledged to fight corruption and the setting up of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission was a good example. He had also implemented the National Integration Plan as well as worked towards restoration of the independence of the judiciary.”

“Pak Lah had pushed for the implementation of the economic development corridors, enhanced the efficiency of public administration and advocated the integration of all ethnic groups. We have seen results in these areas.”

“We wish that he will enjoy life after retirement, while at the same time hope he will continue to contribute his services to the country and the people.”
