Gerakan Youth Deputy Chief Oh Tong Keong today expresses his dismay over a statement by the PAS spiritual leader Nik Aziz who claimed that in spite of the objection from its allies in PR including DAP, PAS is adamant to implement hudud. Oh is also disappointed with the inability of DAP among the ranks of PR.
“If any of the DAP leaders, especially Lim Guan Eng is still upholding the ethics in politics and national conscience, they should sever all ties with PAS immediately, stop any attempt to deceive the Chinese with promising words, dissembling the political ideology of PAS to establish an Islamic state,” says Oh, who is also Penang Gerakan Youth Chief.
Oh also condemns DAP for being two-faced on the issues of hudud and Islamic state, while the party chairman Karpal Singh who is seemingly isolated and has no real power within the party is trying his best to stop PAS from implementing the hudud. However, the father-and-son pact of Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng who hold the real power are keeping mum on this issue, seemingly giving acquiescence to PAS to go forward with its pursuit for the establishment of an Islamic state, undermining the rights of the non-Muslim. Therefore, Gerakan Youth urges the duo to take a stand on this issue and give clarification, stop avoiding the issue and attempt to deceive the non-Muslim.
Oh Tong Keong says that our county is multiethnic, multicultural with different religious beliefs, PAS should never be allowed to establish an Islamic state, jeopardizing the social harmony of the country. On this issue, Gerakan is firmly against the political ideology and pursuit of PAS to establish an Islamic state.
