Gerakan Youth Secretary General Dr. Dominic Lau welcomes the implementation of a General Election simulation to theNationhood module in the 10th National Service Training Programme (PLKN) beginning 2013. He believes that such simulation is a good way in helping the trainees to understand more about the election process and our country parliamentary democracy system.

“The three-day General Election simulation closely resembles a real general election, starting from the dissolution of parliament, the forming of political parties, casting vote, until the announcement of result and formation of a new government. Through the activities, trainees are exposed to the electoral system via active participation instead of learning merely through academic writings. In addition, these activities aimed to allow the trainees to understand the parliamentary democracy and its importance for the country and thus encouraging the trainees to perform their national duty by registering as a voter when they reach the voting age of 21 and exercise their suffrage during the General Election,” says Dr. Dominic Lau.

Dr. Dominic Lau also suggests that Federal Constitution, Rukun Negara and national harmony to be included into the Nationhood module of National Service in order to instil the spirit of unity to the trainees. So that the trainees will come to a realization that the harmony, stability and prosperity that the county currently enjoying are hard-earned.

Dr. Dominic Lau urges the trainees to cherish the opportunity posed to them throughout the activities, in order to understand the electoral system and the major policies of our country.
