I refer to yesterday’s Press Conference (19 September 2011) done by YB Tian Chua, the Member of Parliament for Batu whereby he requested an apology from me over a claim that he owns a Mercedes Benz.

I would like to make a public clarification here that:

1) In my speech to the Annual Penang Gerakan State Youth Delegates Conference on 17 September 2011, I did refer that Tian Chua “uses” a Mercedes Benz but I DID NOT say that he “owns” a Mercedes Benz. As my speech script was entirely done in English, the usage of the word “uses” and “owns” carries 2 entirely different meanings.

2) There is no intention on my part to insinuate anyone of either being engaged in any irregular and/or corrupt practices as my speech was centred on current political developments in Penang and not meant to be an attack on Tian Chua.

3) I regret that I may have made a mistake in recognizing the current Mercedes Benz E-Class owned by Tian Chua to be a Mercedes Benz S-Class. This mistake is deeply regrettable and shall not be repeated again.
