Where is the Tiger Park?
Press Statement by Penang Gerakan State Liaison Committee Treasure, Ng Fook On

Gerakan has urged Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to announce his decision whether the state government will proceed with the Tiger Park project he proposed two months ago.
Penang Gerakan treasurer Ng Fook On said when Lim announced the proposed project on March 15, he gave the public two months to submit their views and comments.
“It is now two months and the public have yet to know whether the Tiger Park project will proceed as planned,” said Ng in a statement.
Ng noted that the proposed project had drawn criticisms from conservation groups such as the Malaysian Conservation Alliance for Tigers (Mycat), Sahabat Alam Malaysia and WWF-Malaysia.
Ng said Gerakan was also against the project as the party was concerned with the people’s safety because placing wild animals such as tigers in the vicinity of a highly-residential area would only invite danger.
Lim had announced that the state government planned to create a tiger park on a 40ha plot owned by the Penang Municipal Council (MPPP) known as the Pondok Durian Cap Kaki, which is near the Relau Metropolitan Park.
Ng urged the state government to listen to the voices of the people who wanted the project to be cancelled.
“As the project will be a joint venture between the state (land belong to Penang Municipal Council) and a private company, the public have the right to know the details of the plan, if it is to be carried out,” said Ng.
