Kedah Gerakan Chairman and Derga State Assemblyman Dr Cheah Soon Hai warned all outsiders to not interfere with Parti Gerakan’s internal affair and mind their own business. Dr Cheah was referring to the statement made by the President of the Penang Chinese Chamber of Commerce Tan Sri Tan Kok Pin, who alleged that Penang shows no development at all during the 18 years of leadership under Dr Koh Tsu Koon and the nonsensical suggestions made by Nibong Tebal MP Tan Tee Beng, PCM Vice President Huan Cheng Guan and Bayan Baru MP Zahrain Ahmad who suggested that Dr Koh Tsu Koon should step down as the Gerakan President as well as resigning from his ministerial position in the Prime Minister’s Department.
“That is absolutely baseless and nonsensical, how can there be no development in Penang from 1990 to 2008? And who are they to comment on Gerakan in such a way? What kind of credibility do they have?” said Dr Cheah.
Dr Cheah said that during the 18 years when Dr Koh Tsu Koon was the Chief Minister of Penang, he had further developed Penang on the strong foundation laid down by the late Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu and this is known by all Penangites. He also hopes that the public will not simply believe the baseless statements made by these few people but judge the matter with their own wisdom.
On behalf of Gerakan Kedah, Dr Cheah pledges full support to Dr Koh Tsu Koon.
