Gerakan condemns the attack of Israel Navy on the unarmed Turkish ship, Mavi Marmara off the Gaza Coast on 31 May, 2010.

Gerakan deputy secretary general, Liang Teck Meng described that attack as a criminal act of Israel against humanitarian activists and called for the international community to pressure Israel to immediately release the innocent people and ships.

Liang urged Malaysians of all faiths to pray for the safe return of the 11 Malaysians on board a humanitarian aid convoy which was attacked by Israeli commandos, leaving at least nine people dead and dozens injured.

“We should pray for the safety of all the people involved in the convoy and hope they would be able to return to their respective countries as soon as possible,” said Liang in a statement.

Liang, who is also Member of Parliament for Simpang Renggam, hoped peace would prevail over violence in the Gaza region.
