Kedah Gerakan has questioned the move for four Pakatan Rakyat State Assemblymen in Kedah to go to Kedah PAS headquarters to take an oath of loyalty for the PR state government.

Kedah Gerakan chief Dr Cheah Soon Hai said the four, comprising three assemblymen from PKR and one from DAP, should uphold their dignity, integrity and sense of responsibility and not subservient to PAS.

Dr Cheah, who is also Derga State Assemblyman, reminded the four Pakatan Rakyat State Assemblymen that they were not PAS assemblymen and should not take an oath of loyalty at somebody else’s territory.

“Why not at the Kedah State Legislative Assembly, or at their respective party headquarters?” he questioned in a statement.

Newspapers had reported that the four were asked to go to Kedah PAS headquarters to take the oath on May 22, following speculations that “they will quit the PR government soon”.

Dr Cheah said it was now clear that the four assemblymen were under PAS’s thumb and they “do not have any say at all in the Kedah administration, despite being elected representatives of the people.”

On the wide usage of big advertisement signboards with Jawi writings in Kedah, Dr Cheah said he had received complaints that PAS seemed to be aggressively embarking on an Islamic state administration and “this is the proof.”
