Penang Gerakan expresses its concerns over the 988 FM’s DJ Jamaluddin Ibrahim who has been asked to “on leave indefinitely” from today.
Penang Gerakan Publicity, Information and Communication Bureau Secretary, Dr Thor Teong Gee said in the statement today.
We were told that there are some unfounded allegations made against Jamaluddin Ibrahim that his statement made on the radio has caused “racial tension”.
These unfounded allegations do not hold water. In fact, to silent an outspoken radio host is a clear violation to the freedom of expression which is enshrined by our Federal Constitution.
Dr Thor said, we may disapprove what Jamaluddin Ibrahim says, which certain statement he made in the past sounds bias and prejudice against us, we will “defend to the death his right to say it”.
Therefore, Dr Thor appeals to the management of 988 FM, to allow Jamaluddin Ibrahim to resume his roles with immediate effects.
