The choice of Penang People

After failing for 3 consecutive attempts, Mansor Othman has managed to secure his seat as Penanti State Assemblyman at the cost of Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin.

With months of waiting and speculating, Penangites now find their new Deputy Chief Minister from a 3 times rejected candidate of PKR. A choice specially recommended by Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and condone by the Chief Minister.

With the transparency and accountability recommended by Lim Guan Eng, we could only hope that Mansor Othman can have the credibility to convince the ever high-demand penangites.

How dissapoint we are that upon swear in as the new Deputy Chief Minister I, his 1st announcement on the appointment of council chairman had resulted to 9 PKR councillors threatening to resign. But Penangites makes their choice.

With the announcement of Lim Guan Eng to give RM10,000.00 to the whistleblower, his hope to eredicate corruption again astound me for his creativity with monetary rewards. I did not expect Penang government to have a lot of funds during economy crisis, but the Penang Chief Minister shows how strong the financial capability of the state. At least, he dare to make such commitment and I hope that he can be answerable to the State Assembly on how such an amount being used (or allocated), otherwise, this defeat his commitment on transparency.

This is the choice of the majority voters of Penang and I hope that the choice is a wise one, although I do not see how prudent is the state being governed.

There are no co-operative in between the coalition parties in the PR as what I have seen after they took over the state government. Sadly, the majority DAP members are not that capable of running some big organization like PDC or Invest Penanng even have to hired someone none from the PR. Just notice a few of them are capable but the rest still lack of expertise. Let see what they can do…...

3 GenYong 15 Jun 2009, 7:09 PM

Although DAP members are not match fit and not that capable for the departments of state government in Penang, they performed more well than the passed. I would like to ask, what had the passed state government before the GE 2008 have done?

Everything also listen to UMNO. Just a little bit things to be complete only. I more admire at the 2nd Chief Minister Tun Dr.Lim Chong Eu who guide Penang to develop to a big city. He brought in industrial zone, guide in Penang Bridge and many more…

Then what had Dr Koh Tsu Koon did while he was Chief Minister for 18 years ago? Can be say that he was do nothing. Am I right?

So Gerakan, if you are a good party please don’t always listen to UMNO leaders saying nonsense. You must give the chance for the new state government to perform. Let them have 4 more years to perform and lead it to be success and learn from them if anything good!

GenYong,

i very agree with yr comments.

Let me tell you why Gerakan so kow-tow(bow head) to UMNO even kiss their boot and lick their ass.

If you from penang then u will know that many of Gerakan ADUN or Parliament seat won previously are from non chinese but Malay(UMNO) voters bcos Gerakan contest under BN logo. So many UMNO voters hv no choice but to vote BN logo(gerakan) due they from the same boat, not bcos they like Gerakan. Gerakan understand this very much and that is why they let UMNO holding important post in state agency and close one eye for their corruption and abuse of power for so long… Khor as CM for 18 years is useless puppet of UMNO, and nothing hv been done for the state. Even Lee Kwan Yew visit penang after 20 years and comments nothing much changes here. What a blow to Dr.Khor and Gerakan. I surprise Khor still got face to meet him.

It had proven on above that after Gerakan face the great defeat on last election, UMNO was so angry at Gerakan and their party leader Khor and even openly ask Gerakan to get out of BN since they no longer get the support from chinese community. No need to mention their hero openly tear of Khor chief minister photo in front of all the media and press. Dont know Khor and Gerakan will remember that day or not??

So back to the subject “The choice of Penang People”, and the people of penang had make their choice by voted out Gerakan and their gang MCA. I really thankful and greatful to penang people choice after so many years under UMNO puppet ruling. I salute to the people of penang.  *salute*

As for Teng, yes, u r right, DAP might not hv the capable and experience people for ruling state own organisation bcos all the while they from oppersition and never had chance to do that. After they take over ruling power, they are trying their best to manage it and even very unselfishly invite others including Gerakan and MCA people to manage. This is better than those hv the capable but misuse, abuse and corrupt when managing state organisation.

Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon had done nothing during his 18 years’ tenure as CM of Penang ? “HAD DONE NOTHING” literally means had not contributed anything towards various aspects of developments and advancements of Penang State.  As a sensible and responsible layman-cum-internet enthusiast of Penang, I always feel happy and appreciate very much any justifiable comments, remarks or criticisms that are based on facts, as well as constructive and encouraging suggestions, but feel rather otherwise as regards to those baseless, inconceivable and slanderous allegations & criticisms against the party and its leaders. I feel there much be some degree of respect for the party and its leaders.
Whether Gerakan led previous state Government had done anything good for Penang, I’m sure people can see very clearly and perfectly. Needless for me to quiote any example.  Men are perfect, so as the govenment.
For those who feel contrarily, I just have one question to ask them: Have your life and standard of living become very much better as compared to 18 years ago and just before G.E. 308 last year ?
I fervently hope that Gerakan don’t lose hope after the downfall! Be more united ,be more loyal to the party, strive harder to strengthen Gerakan! Gerakan must grow stronger!

Correction for the above: “Men are perfect, so as the government.” should be corrected as: Men are NOT perfect, so as the govenment. ”

dear little cat,

I receive a forward mail as below, writer unknown, share with you. I hope it can change your view and mindset toward your own party chief.

9 penangites 23 Jun 2009, 12:41 PM

dear Xiao Ah Mao,

another sharing from your own party that makes my comments about yr party chief Khor even solid but u on the stage of denial.

23 Jun 2009, 12:44 PM

hahah, wonderful sharing !!!

what a blow to pussy cat and its party leader as well.

11 wisely 23 Jun 2009, 1:51 PM

To echo xiao ah mao, I am worried about Penang state development will take a setback for another 5 years unless PR took control of federal gov next time around. Already LKY negative comment on the only chinese lead state in our country and now with the little fund available to LGE to develop the state. He has been begging for some time now but i done think the fund is coming! This is political reality. Kelantan folk is different. Even their MB farm behind his backward during his free time but will us chinese do the same? Something for us to ponder!

12 Xiao Ah Mao 23 Jun 2009, 5:43 PM

Dear Penangites

Thank you for your forward-mail. I appreciate your kind effort very much. In fact I had read it in the online-media few days ago.

In a democratic society, people can enjoy the freedom of expression and voice out their personal opinions.

There are lots & lots of writings, comments, articles and press statements in the print & net-medias every day, especially the local vernacular newspapers.

This is one of the strategies used by politicians or supporters to tarnish, to defame, to assassinate or to out-wit the characters, reputations, capabilities and popularities of thier opponents.

A good exampe is what the current CM of Penang has been doing since he took over the Penang State Government 308 last year. He has been exposing weaknesses, wrong-doings and many cases of land-scams & corrupt practices of the previous state governments, but till now, none can be substantiated or be charged.
Anything to his favour, he will claim credit to himself. Anything unfavourable to him, he will blame the previous state government. Later on, if not much improvements as regards to the various aspects of developments in Penang, such as infrastructurs, he will put the blame on federal Government for not giving enough allocations.

All an all, I think most importantly, each individual must use his/her ative, sharp, sensible & logical mind to digest, assimilate & analyse all the contents of what he/she has been reading, in order to draw the right conclusiions. Last but not least, I hope, please don’t let your emotions to act!

dear little cat,

wow…impressive wisdom. I will put it on my mind.

From how u write, I can c that u r a person with good wisdom, maybe with talent as well, but for my personal thought, u join the wrong party and serve the wrong leader. They party that is about to meet the end of its journey with its lame leader.

After all, is your right & choice. Good luck.

14 Xiao Ah Mao 23 Jun 2009, 8:39 PM

Dear Penangites,

Thank you very much for your kind remarks/comments.

I’m a layman, not actively involved in politics or party activities, but always caring for it, because it affects our (including our future generations) daily life & well-beings.

Kind regards

Xiao Ah Mao

15 penangites 23 Jun 2009, 9:03 PM

yes thats right !!! that is why i so concern about our malaysia politic very much even i not any party member. I understand our country future is depend on the political party that going to rule and run our country.

For my personal point of view, after the racist and corrupt BN/UMNO and some of its component party run (ruin) our country for half a century, i think is time for an alternative already.

although we didnt share the same political idea but we hv common interest that is our country and our future generation well being.

Our country and gerakan will hv no future n hope if BN/UMNO and Gerakan still didnt change.

As long as Gerakan still parasite and kow-tow to BN/UMNO, i will keep on voice out my concern until Gerakan change or gerakan vanish…in either way…

Dear Penangites..I also very respect Tun Lim ...Aah!! he is my idol .But then the Senior Lim come to Png and haunted Png and spreading rumors lie to “Penangites” how great he is.. the undecisive Penangites gave the vote to that Old Dog and he did nothing..Sad. ( Later the old Lim lost the GE and started to talk about 500votes, then he lost again in GE and his next trick was to joint alliance with PAS but not successful. Lost again in GE, then he flee to Perak .. )

Due to Old Lim ... CM position pass to Koh in 1991, from starting of his career to ending..he is always being “remote controled” by Dr. M & current PR Advisor..( once even agree to close Png Airport - Oh my god )All funds were allocated to develop Langkawi. Png tourism , FTZ as you describes..drop to subzero freezing point growth. Finally, the Dr. M retired Pak Lah in-charge Green Light for 2nd brigde, Koh has big plan to re-plan/reform Png (再轉變 ). Boost Png FTz again with 2nd Bridge, With Teng (Junior one)‘s talent & hardwork Unesco award is almost there , Koh has big plan to transform Png into SEA biggest entertainment garden… but again the Lim Junior came in again and do what his senior did ..spreading all the rumors and caused Png ppl select them even they have put a “Hidden Head Turtle” as candidate… there goes the economy of Garden of Oriental again..I think we being pushed backward 20years again ..I really beg that Lim father & son go back to their Malacca and stop jeopadized our beautiful and potential Penang .

注:檳城呀,您肯定是犯到姓林的太歲, 不然姓林的為甚麽一而再再而三的來糟蹋您呀。。。可惜可惜

17 penangites 24 Jun 2009, 8:05 PM

dear ooi,

i not very agree on yr comments on Senior Lim and Junior Lim on Penang. If party Gerakan and its leader didnt sell out Penang for UMNO interest, i sure Penang peoples(voters) will not simply vote out Gerakan and its leader.

U think penang rakyat is dumb head, not educated? cant think? cant judge? Infact penang voters are among the most educated in Malaysia after Wilayah. Due to this, penang voters able to analyst, judge and finally make up their mind. Penang voters also the most mature type among Malaysia as they hv the history of vote out BN 2 times since independent.

There must be something that make rakyat penang very disappointed and unhappy until they willing to kick out the party that rules for 20 years…

Maybe for Party gerakan members and supporter, is a bit difficult for them to accept the truth, since they love their party so much…just like we love our own son, when they do something very wrong, we still tend to forgive them.

Since PR hv taken power for Penang, to be fair, lets give them 1 term as their probation period, see how well or bad they manage and running this state government. The rakyat/voters will know what to do when the next GE comes. After all, BN/Gerakan have ruled for 4 terms 20 years. Dont prejudge too early.

18 gog watch 28 Jun 2009, 8:55 PM

The Penang people 101% don’t like to see GERAKAN to exist in Penang any more, even own party members also don’t vote for Gerakan.

19 penangites 29 Jun 2009, 5:36 PM

dear gog watch or dog watch ?? (typo??)

yes, is true, i hv few Gerakan frens and fren’s fren also their member also vote for PR during 308. They all with the people/rakyat and making history.

It is one of my happiest day on 308 when the result slowly announce officially. The phone call and sms never stop…

Dear tax paying citizens of Penang state,

we all have just won a battle for ourselves.

we succeeded in getting rid of UMNO’s guard dogs in Penang state.

there are still more than a score of UMNO scums in Penang DUN, those are the ones we need to cleanse.

if our forefathers can do it in 1969, we can do it again in GE13.

Gerakan members, repent !

21 penangites 9 Jul 2009, 1:59 AM

yes, only repent and change can save gerakan and its leader…this is rakyat want to see from gerakan.
