Wanita Gerakan Secretary General Jayanthi Devi Balaguru today slammed the Chief Minister of Penang, Lim Guan Eng for claiming credit on the postponement of subsidy cuts by saying that the postponement was due to pressure from the opposition. She clarified that the only reason the subsidy cut has been postponed is no other than the BN Government 1 Malaysia “People First” policy.

“The government of the day are the People too! The government does not have a personal vendetta against the people to punish the people by using subsidy as ransom,” she added.

“The recent statement made by the Secretary General of DAP Lim Guan Eng about the government’s decision to maintain the prices of RON95 petrol, diesel and liquefied petroleum gas is an election ploy and once the snap election is won by BN, then clearly nothing would stop them from removing subsidies and allowing prices of essential items to increase is merely a speculation with no substantial proof, he must surely know that it is not wise to be sitting inside a glass house and throw stones,” said Jayanthi.

Referring to the statement made by Lim Guan Eng on the recent subsidy cut for sugar whereby he claimed that the subsidy cut on sugar was due to FELDA’s high profit, Jayanthi said, “The Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism considers all feedback, views and opinions from the public before making any decisions and the government is more than happy to avoid the cutting of subsidy as long as the condition permits.”

Jayanthi who is also the Federal Territories Gerakan Wanita Chief said, the DAP Secretary General Lim Guan Eng should seek for clarifications if he did not understsand Dato’ Tan Lian Hoe’s recent statement when she warned of DAP attempting to play on racial cards.

She hopes that Lim Guan Eng as the Chief Minister of Penang would spend more time putting in effort to develop Penang and improve the living standards of Penangites instead of wasting so much time attempt at sensational statements that benefits no one.
