Vice Chairman of Gerakan Central Bureau on the Law and Human Rights Jayanthi Devi Balaguru criticizes Ibrahim Ali of Perkasa for making the intimidating statement that Chinese would have to store up food when the rally starts and warning the Chinese to stay indoors as “anything could happen”.

“The BERSIH proposed rally sure seems to be attracting a great number of passionate supporting actors and actresses. The script’s villain role must surely go to Perkasa’s Ibrahim Ali without any competition. What does he mean when he warns the Chinese community to ‘stock up’? What does he mean by the Chinese having to stay indoors as anything could happen? Does he mean that only Chinese community is in danger? Is it the plot or the hidden agenda of BERSIH to instill fear in the people and threaten their safety, security and the stability of this country?” said Jayanthi.

“Ibrahim Ali, surely of all people must know the laws and must be aware of the possible actions he can face in uttering such racist and seditious statements,” she added.

Jayanthi who is also Gerakan Wanita Secretary General also said, “The PM in his attempts to lay the foundations for a stable and effective government has been continuing to introduce people orientated credible public policies for the advancement of the Malaysian people with the slogan ‘1Malaysia, Rakyat Didahulukan’, and it is a real shame that the likes of Ibrahim Ali are all clamoring for the cast positions in this proposed BERSIH rally.”

Jayanthi urges Ibrahim Ali to stop inducing unfounded fears unto the public especially the Chinese community, she also hopes that the proposed BERSIH rally organizers will now realize that we are Malaysians and it is just not our way to hold rallies nor exemplify countries that we are not!
