Penang Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon wants state BN leaders to start made known what they have done and serve the people with humility.

Dr Koh, who is Gerakan president, said the leaders had been shy and moved on every time after doing their jobs previously.

“But it is time now for the state BN leaders to tell the people in Penang what they have done,” he said in his speech before the ceremony to present the instrument of appointment to 13 BN divisional chairmen in the state, here Monday.

However, he said the state BN is planning to form a monitoring committee for every district.

He said the committee would have to comply with the Key Performance Index (KPI) set for them to ensure that the quality of services rendered to the people was always good.

“The committee will monitor more closely and focus on the quality of the services provided by the leaders to the people in their areas,” said Koh who is also the Minister in the Prime Minister’s office.

He added that the committee would also receive feedback from the people on the coordinators’ performance and what the people expected from them.

“In line with the 1Malaysia concept — ‘People First, Performance Now’, the committee is needed to ensure that the BN coordinating representative are capable to serve the people,” he said.

He said all the BN state leaders must serve the people sincerely, constructively and proactively.

“They must fight for the people and be sharp to expose any wrong doing or weaknesses in the present state government,” he said

He also said the state BN is in the process of compiling a book to record the BN efforts in the past 18 years before the March 8 general election in 2008.

“The book will serve as a reference for our Barisan coordinators to prove to the people what the previous state government had achieved,” he said.

Meanwhile, Koh also applauded the BN representative in the state, which he said they had done a great job as an opposition in the state.

“They must continue to work for the people with sincerity in order to win the people’s heart,” he said.
