Chinese New Year Message

While we bade farewell to the Year of the Ox and usher in the Year of the Tiger, Malaysia after 52 years of independence is undergoing a period of political changes.

More worrying are events threatening the fabric of our Malaysian society and the basic foundation of our nation.

Derogatory remarks or statements by some senior politicians and senior government servants are certainly not welcomed.

The recent demonstration by Malay NGOs against Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng purportedly because of selective enforcement along racial lines is cause for concern.

The hard fact is that to govern this country requires greater sincerity, courage and political wisdom of our top leaders.

Any politician who tries to use short cut or unconventional method to sustain any slogan will not do any good to the people and country.

At this time, we should sit back and ponder how we can play our role effectively for the people and the country.

Although Penang Gerakan has no seat in state assembly, we will continue to play a constructive and responsible of the opposition.

Let me take this opportunity to wish all Malaysians especially the Chinese a wonderful and prosperous Chinese New Year. May you and your family be blessed with “Good Fortune, Good Health and Good Luck” in this Year of Tiger.
