Penang Gerakan regrets and is surprised with the lifting of the three-year suspension of Ahmad Ismail by the Umno supreme council.
The decision appears to be against the 1Malaysia concept espoused by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Although this is an internal party matter, Umno needs to give an explanation to the people as the issue has escalated into a public concern which touches on racial sensitivities.
We will continue to play our role under the present mechanism for the good of the people.
Newspapers reports said the Umno supreme council had decided to lift Ahmad’s suspension which was meted out in September last year. He was suspended for calling the Chinese “immigrants”, remarks which were deemed offensive by the community.
