Penang Gerakan Head of Legal and Human Rights Bureau, Baljit Singh condemns the Penang Umno Youth Chief Norman Zahalan and other Pro-ISA protesters for dealing with issues by the use of violence.

Baljit Singh made the statement after a group of about 50 people comprising Umno Youths and Komtar Trading Area members staged a rally in Komtar Walk and tried to barge into a civil society forum entitled “Alat Politik Untuk Penindasan”.

A minor scuffle broke out between the protestors, organizers and reporters, while the anti ISA forum was still in progress.

Baljit Singh said that Penang Gerakan is disappointed and angry with Umno Youth Chief Norman Zahalan who repeatedly involves himself in violent protest.

“Being a responsible and reliable political leader, Norman is obliged to lead by example and should promote peace and harmony among Malaysians,” he added.

“Umno should look into this issue seriously as our Prime Minister Dato’ Sri Najib Tun Razak is now advocating moderation approach towards building our country”, he said.

“Violent approach will not help in conveying message effectively. Furthermore, this will create hatred and worry among public, and will not help in Umno’s effort in rebuilding its tarnished image” he also said.
