On the latest demand make by Malay Consultative Council (MPM) Malay rights group, that vernacular schools be abolished for a single national school system, Gerakan Youth reminded MPM that this statement shouldn’t be made as it was seditious in light of Datuk Mark Koding’s case in 1978.

In 1978, Mark Koding, an MP from Sabah, was charge under seditions laws for similar statement made during The Dewan Rakyat debate.

Gerakan Youth has also urged Malay rights groups including Perkasa president Datuk Ibrahim Ali to assist Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s government by providing constructive suggestions how to upgrade the economic livelihood of all poor Malaysians, in particular bumiputras and not to pick up quarrels with other people who come up with ideas.

Gerakan Youth deputy chief Oh Tong Keong said it was not in the interest for Perkasa or any groups, if Malaysia, as a nation, was marginalized in the increasingly competitive globalized world, as a result of the continued unproductive and destructive politickings.

“Let’s work together constructively in bringing the nation forward, especially the well deserving bumiputras, by providing fair and pragmatic ideas to Najib, ” said Oh in a statement.

Oh said Gerakan President Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon was right when he (Dr Koh) suggested that Ibrahim should focus on the competitiveness and productivity of Bumiputeras, instead of only their equity,
