Today is the second time in a row that I have heard somebody saying to somebody else that if you have any grievances, you must use internal mechanisms to channel them. Two days ago I received an email insinuating that my article is not good for the party (Gerakan) as it is akin to washing dirty linen in public.

Interestingly today in the Utusan Malaysia “Timbalan Presiden Gerakan, Datuk Chang Ko Youn berkata, setiap kaum termasuk pertubuhan bukan kerajaan (NGO) pasti mempunyai permintaan tersendiri. Bagaimanapun SALURAN DALAMAN seperti mengadakan perbincangan tertutup dengan para pemimpin kerajaan adalah lebih sesuai digunakan…

So it would be interesting to ask those in authority both in Gerakan and the BN whether when they say “Internal Mechanism’ and ‘Saluran Dalaman’ do they refer to the mechanisms in place before or after the 12th General Elections 2008 where the BN lost 5+1 states and Gerakan was nearly wiped out.

In this respect and in my humble opinion it may be timely for us as a party (I refer to Gerakan) to ensure each and every party member knows what this internal mechanism really is, but that is not the most important concern, the most important concern is the effectiveness of this internal mechanism. I am not impractical, I know that not all problems can be solved or not everyone can be satisfied, BUT THE MINIMUM anyone should get is at least a response and not silence till kingdom come.

As an example members will ONLY start using internal party mechanism only and if they have full confidence in it to address issues that are brought to it before events take its natural course i.e. accessibility and speed in which issues are addressed.

Then there is the problem of vested interest, if you have at the division or state level individuals who do not want you to be visible at any cost, and then what is the alternative. Again it is a question of effectiveness. It is obvious to most Malaysians that internal mechanisms have failed within the BN and Gerakan. And this issue needs addressing.

For the moment, it is still not too late to address if Malaysians are willing or satisfied at just blaming internal mechanisms which are faulty, let us not wait until Malaysians think that whatever the mechanism, the FAULT lies with the politicians and the party itself and CHANGE can only begin with TOTAL REJECTION.

I fully agree with stephen doss here. What is “Saluran Dalam”?
Who to contact? Who is in charge? Who is accountable?

Most of the parties as well as the Govt have got too much of baggage and thus “internal mechanism” are the “best” method for solving the problems   created by themselves.

We believe that dirty linen should not be washed in public because then the public will know who dirtied the linen in the first place. We support internal mechanism because it gives us a good chance to avoid responsibility for dirtying the linen.

Internal mechanism is good because then you can “explain” why some of the best students did not get scholarships without having to explain why other countries give scholarships to this “rejects”. It also helps political parties to save face year in year out after failing to convince the govt that the basic right to a good tertiary education should be based on merit and affirmative action should be for the marginalised.

Internal mechanism is perfect if the govt does not fret too much (or is embarassed) by a dot between 1 & 2(1.2Billion) that probably has gone missing over a period of few years (PFKZ cost is now supposed to be 12 Billion).

If there are enough people to scratch each others backs, internal mechanism is really good when you want to get something unproffesional, unethical or morally wrong done. It also works well when someone inferior or with an inferiorty complex wants to prevent someone better from doing good &/or rising up.

The list goes on and on Stephen.

People who believe that truth and justice must always prevail irrespective of race, religion or creed will never subscribe to the policy of internal mechanism.
The irony is that if internal mechanism were to work it will have to be praticed by people who believe that truth and justice must always prevail irrespective of race, religion or creed.

I don’t know if Gerakan is coming or going, moving forward or backwards, the more they speak the more they confuse people

Saluran Dalaman diwujudkan untuk menyekat kebebasan bersuara.

Internal or external, the question is whether there would be a solution or a compromise

What can iexpect from a party that has virtually lost everything!?

The leaders are still the same…no changes are visible…surely the internal mechanism has failed (if one existed in the 1st place)..

Anyway, “internal mechanism” has very limited view in todays world…it is a thing of the past…today, its about transparency, accountability… where is this? It has a lot to do with KPI’s (but KPI’s must be driven with transparency & accountability when it is drawn up) The leadership is now driving the KPI’s for the ministries…! What about the party..!?

Perhaps the statement has some veracity…“washing linen in public..”.  Perhaps the suggestion to use the elusive “internal mechanism” is to safeguard internal weaknesses…!!!

The leadership MUST keep this in mind before making public statements…that the RAKYAT is not ignorant of their surroundings..

Keep it up… If they are interested… they whould do something positive about it instead of making childish remarks…

Stephen,

for gerakan, internal and external Mechanisms means 1 version for BN/UMNO to hear, another version for rakyat(voters) to hear on 1 same issue.

Gerakan is 2 face party for many years and rakyat(voters) have knew it and had make their decision during the last 308 GE.
