Concerned with the plight and welfare of the Thai people who were severely hit by the floods in Thailand, Penang Gerakan Youth and Wanita went around collecting donations to buy some medication and basic necessities that would be useful for the victims.
On Monday, boxes of medication and basic necessities worth a total of RM5,000 were handed over to Penang Gerakan chairman Datuk Dr Teng Hock Nan at a brief ceremony held at the Penang Gerakan Headquarters in Jalan Macalister. Present were Thai Consul-General in Penang, Voradet Viravakin, Penang Gerakan Youth chief Oh Teong Keong and Penang Gerakan Wanita chief Ng Siew Lai.
Dr Teng would be bringing the medications and necessities to Ayutthaya where he would set up a temporary free clinic to help the victims. He will be assisted by Chang Yoon Loy.
Both would join a Malaysian delegation from Kuala Lumpur which will be in Ayutthaya and Bangkok from Tuesday to Saturday. Their trip is jointly organized by Fo Guang Shan Malaysia, Sin Chew Daily News and Guang Ming Daily News.
