Wanita Gerakan Secretary General Jayanthi Balaguru today expressed her concern and disappointment over the issue of Mat Sabu’s communist remarks.

She said, “Are Malaysians so gullible that Mat Sabu’s purported alternative interpretation of the 1950 incident has changed the Malaysian history? Pakatan Rakyat’s attempt to come out in support of PAS Deputy President, Mat Sabu does not make it right nor true.”

Jayanthi, who is also the KLFT Gerakan Wanita Chief and BN Segambut Chairman said that when the Malays, Chinese and Indians fought against the British, they were fighting for Malaya’s freedom. It does not change the fact that 200 armed men who attacked the Bukit Kepong police station were communists. It does not change the fact that despite the efforts by the 17 policemen to courageously defend the police station for 6 hours, the police station was captured and burned down by these communists. It does not change the fact that the policemen were killed and innocent women and children were murdered. Is this to be interpreted and understood as glorification of heroes?”

“Enough is enough. There are more important things for Malaysians including the government and opposition to focus on, think about and do, instead of attempting to defend or add credibility to ambiguous statements that does not change history,” she added.
