Parti Gerakan Vice President Dato’ Mah Siew Keong today say he does not support Barisan Nasional Back Bencher Council (BNBBC) deputy chairman Bung Mokhtar to table an emergency motion to disqualify PKR Batu MP Tian Chua with regards to his conviction and RM2,000 fine for biting a policeman. Although Batu is one of Gerakan’s electoral constituency, Gerakan does not wish to have MP Tian Chua disqualified from his MP position for the benefit of the Batu’s voters and people.

“Now that the three year period for a by-election has passed, if MP Tian Chua was disqualified, then there won’t be any representative for the people in Batu in the parliament,” said Dato’ Mah.

“Gerakan’s stand is always to put the best interest of the rakyat as our priority, hence, we believe that we should not deny voters of their elected representative over a mere RM2,000 conviction,” he added.

“It is much honorable for BN and Gerakan to have a fair contest with opposition party in the coming General Election than disqualifying MP Tian Chua in such a way, and we will be ready for the contest when the time comes. We firmly believe that Gerakan and Barisan Nasional can serve the people in Batu and we hope the voters will give us a chance in the coming general election” said Dato’ Mah.
