Former Penang Deputy Chief Minister Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin should continue serving the people who have voted him in as Penanti assemblyman in the 2008 General Election.
Penang Gerakan Secretary Ong Thean Lye said Fairus should not neglect the interest of voters. “He has been keeping silent all this while and this is not fair as his constituents need to know what is happening,’ said Ong.
Ong said before the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission made a decision, Fairus had the responsibility towards his constituents and should implement whatever commitments he made to the people.
“Unfortunately, all the while, he just reported to one person only – that is PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim – and did not explain to his constituents what had happened to him.” Fairus quit as DCM on April 8.
Ong urged Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng to fill up the DCM’s post as soon as possible in the interest of the people.
