Penang Gerakan Youth chief Oh Tong Keong today expressed hope that senior political leaders and politicians will be more civil and rational in their approach.

Oh said they should be more responsible and should never mislead the public in whatever they say.

He said lately, there were several reports attributed to some personalities which contained “confusing, twists, and half-truth” substances.

“Please don’t forget that what seniors do or say today will have a great influence and an impact on the youths who are the future leaders of the country,” said Oh in a statement.

Oh also urged Penang Deputy Chief Minister P. Ramasamy to qualify his continuous usage of the word “scam” to describe the Tang Hak Ju land case in Bukit Mertajam.

Oh said the White Paper which was tabled at the Penang State Assembly recently clearly stated “negligent” on the part of two government officers. The White Paper also said that Tang could have prior knowledge that the land belonged to the two associations.

Urging Ramasamy not to be arrogant and come to terms, Oh said Ramasamy should understand the meaning of the word “scam”. According to the dictionary scam means a fraudulent business scheme; a swindle.

“In Tang’s case, it is clearly not a scam as stated in the White Paper,” said Oh, adding that the state government should concentrate on finding out more information and evidence to set aside the case, instead of arrogantly challenging people to sue the state government.
