DAP dare not to defy PAS for political expediency

In a response to Lim Guan Eng’s press statement claimed that DAP is cooperating with PAS on common principles while at the same time shelling tirades and criticisms on MCA and Gerakan. Gerakan Deputy President Dato’ Chang Ko Youn today expresses his dismay over his outburst and refutes the untruthful remarks as well as urging Lim and his party to stop misleading the people and gallantly take a stand on the hudud issue.

Dato’ Chang says that Lim has obviously proved himself as ostrich-like apart from being called as ‘modernday political eunuch’ by MCA Chua Soi Lek for lacking guts to defy PAS over the implementation of hudud as evidenced in his latest remarks. It shows that Lim and DAP are irresolute and lack the courage and determination necessitated to defy PAS over its agenda to implement hudud and establish an Islamic state. Lim and DAP’s seemingly weak and questionable standpoint on this issue is keeping the people in limbo with confusion as to what kind of future Lim and his party DAP is leading the people into. Lim and DAP’s political inclination is especially disturbing to the non-Muslim and Chinese community who are in fear for the worst scenario, perpetrated by the signs of betrayal of trust and public letdown of Lim and DAP.

“Unlike the caddish and unchivalrous DAP, Gerakan and MCA are always firm, resolved and vehemently defending the rights, welfare and overall betterment of Malaysians including the Chinese, Indian and many more communities. Both Gerakan and MCA leaders have in the past voiced our strong and resolute protest clearly towards our own allies in BN regarding the implementation of hudud. Therefore, Lim’s remarks are baseless and disgraceful, an irresponsible act that has no regard of political morality and ethics but for sheer political expediency,” says Dato’ Chang Ko Youn who is also the Perak Gerakan Chairman.

It is clear that Lim and DAP are trying to evade from the hudud issue without responding positively and diverting the public attention away from the crux of the problem. ‘Cooperating on common principles’ is an obvious excuse or even a blatant lie to cover their inability, cowardice and even submission by acquiescing under the perseverance and insistence as demonstrated by PAS to implement hudud and establish an Islamic state if they emerge triumphant in the next General Election.

“Fundamentally in the essence of the matter, DAP’s welfare state agenda is completely different from PAS’s hudud and Islamic state, however DAP’s acquiescence and tolerance on hudud is puzzling the people, masqueraded with unconvincing pretexts. I am sure we all would like a stop on the political shenanigan and DAP must start addressing the issue with a proper manner and attitude,” adds Dato’ Chang Ko Youn.

“DAP and Lim must not hide behind rhetoric which only shows their opportunism and unprincipled behaviour,” says Chang.
