Lim Guan Eng’s salary should be deducted RM5 for failing to perform his duties over the controversial Penang Hill carpark project.
RM1 should be deducted as Chief Minister, RM1 as Penang Development Corporation (PDC) chairman, RM1 as Air Putih Assemblyman, RM1 for misleading the people and RM1 for saying he is not accountable for the controversial “Kancil car park”.
Pulau tikus Barisan Nasional coordinator Rowena Yam said Lim is trying to wash his hands of the car park project at the foot of Penang Hill and therefore his salaries should be deducted.
She said Lim should be accountable and answerable to the people as the project was approved and done during his term of office. Besides, Lim had also failed to supervise the project well.
“Lim receives salary from the positions he holds. It is only right that he should provide answers and solutions on how and why the car park project has become a failure,” said Yam at a press conference at the State Legislative Assembly building on Tuesday.
With Yam were Penang MCA secretary Lau Chiek Tuan, Penang Gerakan Publicity, Information and Communications Bureau chief Dr Thor Teong Gee, Penang Gerakan Legal and Human Rights bureau chairman Baljit Singh, Bayan Baru Barisan Nasional coordinator David Yim Boon Leong, Air Itam Barisan Nasional coordinator Jackson Teoh and Sungai Puyu Barisan Nasional coordinator Sum Yoo Keong.
Yam said it was public knowledge that the car park project plan was approved when Lim became chief minister in 2008.
The completed car park is too small and has yet to obtain permission from the Penang Municipal Council for public use.
